Pennsylvania Railroad 2434 > Penn Central 2434 > Conrail 2434

Built as Pennsylvania Railroad 2434 in March, 1965, as part of the railroad’s third order for C425’s. It became Penn Central 2434 in the 1968 merger, and Conrail 2434 in the 1976 merger. It was retired in February, 1979.

The Pennsylvania Railroad placed five orders for C425’s in rapid succession:

  1. Pennsylvania Railroad 2416 – 2418, delivered in October, 1964
  2. Pennsylvania Railroad 2419 – 2421, delivered in November, 1964
  3. Pennsylvania Railroad 2422 – 2427, delivered in February, 1965
  4. Pennsylvania Railroad 2428 – 2436, delivered in March, 1965
  5. Pennsylvania Railroad 2437 – 2446, delivered in December, 1965
